Description
A set of queen holders for holding the queen in place during instrumental insemination. This set consists of two queen holders and a back-up tube.
The queen holders have an ID of 7mm which tapers down to allow the queen’s abdomen to protrude but prevents her from escaping. The back-up tube is used to run the queen into so that she can be walked backwards into the queen holder.
The queen holder holds the queen in place during the insemination process over a CO2 aperture. The CO2 anesthetises the queen and helps trigger her biological to begin laying. This is similar to the strain a queen is put under during her mating flight.
